  • Gadgets are a handy, easy and simple way to add some flare to your blog; they're also mini tools that offer cool and dynamic content that can be placed on any page on the web. Whether you’d like to display the number of currently online visitors to your site or just place a share button, you can do it with widgets. There are some very cool gadgets out there, and here are some of my top picks in random order.

    1. Google Translate My Page - Gives you a quick dropdown menu to allow non-english readers to select their native language and translate the page using Google translation services. You can also get more gadgets with language flags. This is a good way to make your blog multilingual and get read by a wide international audience.

    2. Google talk – Everyone has a google account mostly via gmail and if your visitors are logged in, this gadgets lets them see your contacts online right now and send them instant messages. You can publicize your gtalk id and chat with your readers.

    3. Google Calendar – If you mark your blogging events on a Google calendar and share your public calendar, then why not add it to your blog and publicize the events you track. Grab this official widget and never miss a event.

    4. MyBlogLog’s Recent Readers – this widget can easily be called a hit amongst blog owners; its popularity even managed to convince Yahoo into buying MyBlogLog. The widget lets you see the avatars of recent visitors to your blog, provided they’re also members of MyBlogLog.

    5. Twitter Badge – if your life is so interesting that everyone must know what you’re up to all the time, then a Twitter badge is the ideal counterpart to your blog. It’ll proudly displays your recent tweets.

    6. FEEDJIT – real time traffic data directly in your blog’s sidebar.

    7. FeedCount – show off the number of visitors to your blog with this handy little button.

    8. MyPageRank – another good way to show how “big” your blog is is to show off your Google PageRank.

    9. CheckPageRank – in addition to showing your PageRank, this widget also shows your Alexa ranking.

    10. Skype button – display your Skype online/offline status on your blog.

    11. PollDaddy – PollDaddy lets you create beautiful polls in no time, and display them at your blog.

    12. AnswerTips – display definitions from for various terms on your blog. The definitions are shown in bubbles which are activated on doubleclick.

    13. AuctionAds – a widget that displays auctioned items on eBay, and gives you a percentage of the price paid when sometimes buys an item.

    14. aStore – similar to AuctionAds, only for Amazon. Create a mini-store on your site and receive profit when someone buys an item through your store.

    15. Yahoo! For Good – create a charity badge and ask for donations for a worthy cause.

    16. Google Map Widget – display a searchable Google Map on your website.

All of us need to be with the F5 Refresh button as these above have become too old and purely acquainted by 95% global users. What is to check for the updates that vary at each session with the new features added for the maps or stores or translation factors!!!
